Tá scéim nua Gaeltachta ar a dtugtar Scéim Bóithre Pobail fógartha ag an Aire Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Aire Gnóthaí Pobail Tuaithe agus Gaeltachta.
Tagann an scéim nua seo i gcomharbacht ar Scéim na mBóithre Portaigh a bhí ann go dtí seo. Beidh Scéim na mBóithre Pobail teoranta do bhóithre:
nach bóithre contae iad
bóithre siúlóide
bóithre rothaíochta
bóithre cois cladaigh
bóithre go céanna beaga
bóithre go reiligeacha
bóithre go portaigh sna ceantair Ghaeltachta
Tá an scéim seo á riaradh ag Údarás na Gaeltachta agus déanfar na hoibreacha faoin Scéim Sóisialta Tuaithe nó an Scéim Fostaíochta Pobail.
Beidh an Ghaeilge mar cheann de na critéir mheasúnaithe atá leagtha síos faoin scéim agus is é €10,000 an ciliméadar an t-uasmhéid a íocfar.

Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, has announced a new Gaeltacht scheme called Scéim Bóithre Pobail (Community Roads Scheme).
This new scheme succeeds Scéim na mBóithre Portaigh (Bog Roads Scheme) which has been in operation up until now. The Community Roads Scheme will be limited to:
roads which are not county roads
walking and cycling paths
coastal roads
roads to small piers
cemeteries and bogs in Gaeltacht areas
The scheme is administered by Údarás na Gaeltachta and works will be carried out under the Rural Social Scheme or the Community Employment Scheme. The Irish language will form part of the assessment criteria for the scheme.
A maximum amount of €10,000 per kilometre will be paid out under the scheme.
Applications which satisfy the elegibility critera will be accepted until end February 2009.
