HOME ENERGY SAVING SCHEME

The Government has launched the Home Energy Saving scheme, and towards the end of March homeowners will be able to apply for a grant towards to cost of roof insulation, wall insulation, high efficiency boilers and heating control upgrades. Homeowners can also get support for a Before and After Building Energy Rating (BER) if they wish. This scheme represents a significant boost to a wide range of building contractors and professionals and represents a major business opportunity not to be missed.

In order to qualify for the grant, homeowners must select a contractor who has registered with SEI to carry out works on the scheme. The general conditions for contractor registration relate to technical competence, compliance with a prescribed Code of Practice, demonstrated tax compliance and certified insurance cover. For cavity wall insulation contractors must also be certified by NSAI Agrément and in the case of gas installations, contractors must be RGI registered or have GID qualified personnel.

SEI is now taking Contractor registrations. For more about the scheme and full details on how to register visit www.sei.ie/hes or call 1850 927000.

Important: No work should be carried out until the homewowner has grant approval.
