TÚS Programme Supervisors x 2 (Full-time post 35 hours per week with initial 12 month contract)

The company now seeks to fill a number of significant positions across a variety of programmes.



TÚS Programme Supervisors x 2 (Full-time post 35 hours per week with initial 12 month contract)


Working in a community setting, the persons appointed will be outreach based at a number of locations in the Letterkenny catchment and will maintain the TÚS programme delivery by providing broad supervision and human resources support to designated TÚS Community Work Placement participants. The above positions will entail a clear understanding of the roles and aims of Donegal Local Development Company Ltd., community groups, individual TÚS participants and the empowerment of communities. Successful applicants will be expected to work in such a way which promotes a safe and supportive environment, which is conducive to shared learning and individual personal development. In keeping with the requirements of the TÚS Programme successful candidates must be unemployed for a period of more than one year and currently in receipt of Jobseeker’s Allowance (including Jobseeker’s Benefit).

Candidate Specification /Skills and Abilities:

The ideal candidate will have a relevant third level qualification and/or equivalent work experience in the area of human resources/community development/social inclusion

• At least two years experience of working in a supervisory/human resources capacity with a company or community organisation;

• Good knowledge and understanding of issues specifically affecting the unemployed and those socially excluded;

• Supervision of compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements;

• Delivery of work-specific training;

• Good file and time management skills;

• Excellent organisational, communication, IT and interpersonal skills;

• Good ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team;

• Full driver’s license and access to own transport

Traveller Job Coach

(Full-time post 39 hours per week to conclude on December 31st, 2011)
Delivered in conjunction with FÁS, the person appointed will work with members of the Traveller Community to provide guidance and support to participants prior to and during job placements so that participants may achieve a smooth transition to employment.
Candidate Specification /Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will have a relevant third level qualification and/or equivalent work experience in the area of community development / social inclusion
• At least four years experience of working with persons distanced from the Labour Market;
• Good awareness of issues and barriers facing Travellers and other marginalized groups when entering employment;
• High level of awareness of support services e.g. FÁS Employment Services, Regional Employment Services etc.;
• Project budgeting and financial controls combined with good file and time management skills;
• Excellent organisational, communication, IT and interpersonal skills;
• Good ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team;
• Full driver’s license and access to own transport.
Youth Opportunities Project Officer
(Full-time post 39 hours per week to conclude on December 31st, 2013)
Working with disadvantaged youth in Donegal border communities the person will co-ordinate the delivery a number of personal development courses giving participants the opportunity to consider positive life choices including opportunities and benefits of local community-based voluntarism. The project will integrate with the President’s Gaisce Awards Scheme. Reconciliation will be a crosscutting theme running throughout all elements of the course curriculum
Candidate Specification /Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will have a relevant third level qualification and/or equivalent work experience in the area of youth development / community development / social inclusion

• At least four years experience of working in a supervisory/human resources capacity with youth / community organisations;
• Good knowledge and understanding of issues specifically affecting unemployed youth and those socially excluded;
• Development of course curriculum and liaison skills with training providers;
• Project budgeting and financial controls;
• Good file and time management skills;
• Excellent organisational, communication, IT and interpersonal skills;
• Good ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team;
• Full driver’s license and access to own transport.
