The Donegal Islands Video & Radio Archive contains radio and television archives reflecting island life on the Donegal Islands from as far back as the 50s. The archive is now available for viewing in An Chultúrlann, they are an excellent research source and are available for visitors to an Chultúrlann free of charge. World Heart Day – Sunday 25th September 2011.

Big Hearts Walk 2011

World Heart Day is the biggest countryside walking day of the year. The Irish Heart Foundation is urging communities to take part in organised walks and try to raise €1 per kilometre walked or alternatively donate €5 to go towards their special heart attack appeal fund to help raise awareness of symptoms of heart attack. Sponsorship cards for anyone taking part in the walk who would like to raise money for the Irish Heart Foundation will be available from an Comharchumann. 074 9520533

Fógra Comharchumainn - Comharchumann Notice

Trading at the Comharchumann store has decreased steadily during the past 12 months. The costs of overheads will be reduced resulting in a three day week for employees and a reduction in the opening times of the store. From Tuesday 8 August, the store will close every Tuesday at 12:30pm. The store will remain open as normal for the remainder of the week. Because of the reduction in employee working hours, deliveries will take place on Thursdays and Fridays. Please ensure that orders for delivery are placed in advance of Thursday each week.   A review of income from tading will take place at the end of the third quarter (30 Sep) to assess whether further cost cutting measures will be necessary.

Tá céad pleanála faighte ag an chomharchumann chun aiseanna spóirt agus caitheamh aimsire a fhorbairt in aice leis an Bhaile Saoire. I measc na forbairtí atá beartaithe, tá cúirt leadóige, aiseanna raoin reatha, seomraí feistis & leithris, cithfholcadán, aonad stórála & aiseanna páirceála. Beidh tairiscintí á lorg ó chonraitheoirí gan mhoill le haghaidh na n-oibreacha.

Planning Permission Obtained
An Comharchumann is in receipt of planning permission to develop sports and leisure facilities at the site of an Baile Saoire. The proposed development will consist of a tennis court, running tracks, changing rooms, toilet & shower facilities & storage and parking facilities. The project works will be offered for tender in the near future.
