Saoránach Éireannach mé a d’oibrigh i Sasana ar feadh roinnt blianta agus a d’íoc ranníocaíochtaí árachais shóisialta thall ansin.  Thart ar 20 bliain ó shin, d’fhill mé ar Éirinn chun oibriú agus tá aois an phinsin ag druidim liom anois. Cén teidlíocht atá agam maidir le mo chuid ranníocaíochtaí pinsin le linn na mblianta a bhí mé fostaithe i Sasana?

Nuair a bhíonn iarratas á dhéanamh agat ar do Phinsin Stáit (Ranníocach), tá mír ann ar an bhfoirm (SPC 1) a iarrfaidh ort do shonraí a thabhairt i dtaca le fostaíocht i dtír eile atá cuimsithe ag Rialacháin CE nó ag comhaontú Déthaobhach Slándála Sóisialaí.

 Iarrtar ar na sonraí seo mar gheall go bhféadfá bheith i dteideal breis agus íocaíocht amháin a fháil; féadfaidh tú a fháil íocaíocht Éireannach agus íocaíocht ó thír eile inar oibrigh tú.
Má tá dóthain ranníocaíochtaí árachais shóisialta Éireannacha agat chun íocaíocht Éireannach a fháil, íocfaidh an Roinn Coimirce Sóisialaí í. Mar gheall gur oibrigh tú i Sasana, rachaidh siad i dteagmháil leis na húdaráis chuí sa RA chun tús a chur ar éileamh ar phinsean na RA. B’fhéidir go bhfuil tú i dteideal pinsean páirteach na RA a fháil sa mhullach ar do phinsean Éireannach, má tá dóthain ranníocaíochtaí na RA agat.
Mura bhfuil dóthain ranníocaíochtaí árachais shóisialta in Éirinn agat, iarrfaidh an Roinn ar do thaifead árachais shóisialta ón RA chun cabhrú leat cáiliú d’íocaíocht árachais shóisialta Éireannach agus cuirfidh siad tús, ar do shon, le héileamh sa RA.

Question


I am an Irish citizen who worked in England for several years and paid social insurance contributions there.  About 20 years ago I returned to Ireland to work and am now approaching pension age. What is my entitlement with regards to my pension contributions during my years of employment in England?
Answer
When you are applying for your State Pension (Contributory) there is a section on the application form (SPC 1) that will ask you for details of employment in any other country covered by EC Regulations or a Bilateral Social Security agreement.

 This is because you may be entitled to more than one payment; you can get an Irish payment and a payment from another country where you worked.

If you have enough Irish social insurance contributions to get an Irish payment, the Department of Social Protection will pay it. Because you worked in England, they will also contact the relevant authorities in the UK to start a claim for a UK pension. You may be due a partial UK pension in addition to your Irish pension, if you have enough UK contributions.

If you do not have enough social insurance contributions in Ireland, the Department will request your social insurance record from the UK to help you qualify for an Irish social insurance payment and will also initiate, on your behalf, a claim in the UK.

This arrangement for contributory pensions and certain other payments applies to all EU countries. It also applies to EEA countries (Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein), Switzerland and certain other countries with which Ireland has a Bilateral Social Security Agreement, such as the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Know Your Rights : Sunday working

Question
I am currently unemployed and getting Jobseeker’s Benefit. I work in a bar on Sundays and I don’t work any other days. I hear that the rules about working on a Sunday are changing. What is the change?

Answer
Since 20 February 2013 Sunday working is taken into account when calculating the amount of Jobseeker's Benefit or Jobseeker's Allowance to be paid. Any work on Sunday was previously ignored when looking at your pattern of employment and people who worked only on Sundays were considered to be fully unemployed. That is no longer the case.

To get either Jobseeker’s Benefit or Jobseeker’s Allowance you must be unemployed. However, you do not have to be fully unemployed. You can work for some days (although you may not work for a part of any day for which you are claiming a jobseeker’s payment).
Since 20 February 2013 Sunday is counted as a day of employment. Previously, to qualify for a jobseeker’s payment, you had to be unemployed for 3 days out of 6 consecutive days. Now you must be unemployed for 4 days out of 7 consecutive days.

People who do not work on Sunday will see no change to their jobseeker’s payment. However, as you have a working pattern of 1 day a week on a Sunday, you will now have this day counted as a day of employment.

If someone getting Jobseeker's Benefit is working for part of a week, their entitlement is based on a 5-day payment week – this is different from the 7-day social welfare employment week. This means that if you work for 1 day in a week one-fifth of your weekly rate of Jobseeker’s Benefit will be deducted from your payment.
People getting Jobseeker’s Allowance who work some days have their entitlement calculated differently. If a person who is getting Jobseeker’s Allowance works on a Sunday their earnings from Sunday work will now be assessed as means and deducted from their Jobseeker’s Allowance payment.

Ní hamhlaidh atá cúrsaí níos mó.
Chun Sochar Cuardaitheora Poist nó Liúntas Cuardaitheora Poist a fháil, ní mór duit bheith dífhostaithe. Ní gá duit bheith go hiomlán dífhostaithe, áfach. Féadfaidh tú oibriú roinnt laethanta (cé nach féidir leat oibriú ar feadh tréimhse ar aon lá a bhfuil íocaíocht chuardaitheora poist á héileamh agat dó).

Deontas Leader Ceadaithe Cúrsa HACCP – HACCP Course Grant Approval

Buíochas mór do Chomhar na nOileán a cheadaigh deontas de €2120.00 faoin chlár LEADER, do Chomharchumann Árainn Mhór chun cúrsa HACCP le cáilíochtaí FETAC Leibhéil 5 a reáchtáil ar an oileán. Cuireadh an cúrsa i gcríoch ag deireadh mí Eanáir agus ghlac 11 rannpháirtithe páirt sa chúrsa a mhair ceithre lá.

Sincere thanks to Comhar na nOileán for LEADER grant approval of € 2,120.00 for Comharchumann Árainn Mhór, to run the HACCP FETAC Level 5 course which took place at the end of January. The course was attended by 11 participants took place over the course of four days.

A representative from the Donegal Local Development Company Ltd will be in an comharchumann offices on Monday, February 11, 2013 from 2:30 to 5:30 to provide information to community groups, local committees etc about the provision of funding under the local development program as outlined below:

Community Development Programme
The Local and Community Development Programme aims to: tackle poverty and social exclusion through partnership and constructive engagement between Government, its agencies and people in disadvantaged communities through the following four Goals.
GOAL 1 - Promoting awareness, knowledge and uptake of a wide range of statutory, voluntary and community services.
GOAL 2- Increasing access to formal and informal educational, recreational and cultural activities and resources.
