Club Óige Árainn Mhóir - Shortlisted in Better Ireland Programme

Club Óige Árainn Mhóir is one of three regional groups shortlisted to receive €10,000

Local communities will have the final say in choosing children's projects to receive funding from the AIB Better Ireland Programme. AIB's 185 main branches each has EUR10,000 to award to local projects and text votes from the general public will decide which of the most deserving children's projects should receive this funding.

Phase 3 of the Better Ireland Programme takes place from 6th May to 6th of June 2008.
At this stage the short listed groups put forward by each of the 185 participating branches go 'head to head' in a public text vote.
Members of the public will be able to text a vote for the group they believe deserves the funding of €10,000.
Text votes will cost 60c (including VAT) plus standard operator charges, all monies remaining after operator fees (+VAT) are applied will be donated to the relevant group. Each branch will actively encourage the local community to get involved in the text vote.

Waste Management Survey - Prize Draw

Sincere thanks to all householders who have completed and returned the recently distributed Waste Management Questionnaires. Sincere thanks also to Fr John Joe for his assistance. The response has been very encouraging, (59% to date). An Comharchumann & RPS Consultants will continue to accept completed questionnaire until early in the New Year.

RPS Consultants conducted the prize draw on 20 December, 2007.

Funding Application for Waste Management Plan Approved

Comharchumann Oileán Árainn Mhóir Teo is pleased to announce that an application to appoint Waste Management Consultants to draw up a waste management plan for the island has been successful. A household survey complied by An Comharchumann and RPS consultants will be distributed shortly to each household on the island. The questionnaire will enable householders to express their views regarding waste management issues on the island.

Waste Management Plan - Household Survey

RPS Consulting Engineers in consultation with Comharchumann Oileán Árainn Mhóir Teo are preparing a Waste Management Plan for the island.

A questionnaire has been prepared in order to obtain the views and opinions of our community.
A number of specific questions have been asked in order to identity the needs of the community in relation to waste. Submissions/written comments in relation to views or concerns regarding waste management practices are also invited.

Please participate in this questionnaire and have your say in improving and maintaining the character and environment of our island. Household surveys will be distributed 3rd 4th & 5th December 2007. Completed questionnaires can be returned to An Comharchumann or posted directly to RPS Consulting Engineers before 19 December 2007.
